Hello, after (glitched update) my keyboard, volume etc stopped working. I did a full reinstall of OS and volume up + power button for a few seconds. Now volume button is working. Type cover keyboard is not working only the damn touchpad. In device manager i have exclamation mark.

1. And finnaly i found my driver called: 'Surface Type Cover Filter Device' in device manager is NOT shown,that driver maybe erased and cannot detected even I update windows (I have Try).
2. This sounds like I'm messing with you but. Connect and disconnect the type cover by pulling it away and then hovering the cover over the surface connector till they snap together. Do this fifteen times quickly and it causes the surface to reinstall the type cover drivers.
3. Go to Control Panel Hardware and Sound Devices and Printers Open the Properties of 'Surface Type Cover' and select the Hardware tab. From this tab, open the properties of each associated device. Uninstall each device, deleting drivers when the option is available.

Sometime within the last 1-2 weeks my Surface Pro's type cover stopped working. Device Manager shows a failed 'type cover' device under Other Devices (with an exclamation point on it). I don't think it's a hardware issue because if I hold down Power and Volume Up to get into the UEFI screen then my Type Cover keyboard arrows work fine to navigate the menus.

1. Per https://support.microsoft.com/en-us..ubleshoot-your-surface-type-cover-or-keyboard I've tried uninstalling it and letting the driver re-install, but it just beeps continuously until I disconnect the type cover and then the Device Manager shows the same Other Devices failed device.
   
2. I also tried going to Microsoft Download Center and re-installing the latest Surface Pro drivers software. No change.
   
3. I also tried System Restore to go back to a system version from a couple days ago. No change.

Besides going to a Microsoft Store are there any other suggestions? Has anyone else had a Type Cover issue after a recent Windows Update?

• When rebooting the machine, the keyboard and trackpad both work when in the BIOS.
• When imaging the machine, both the keyboard and trackpad work in Windows PE.

To correct this issue, complete the following steps:

1. Open Control Panel and navigate to ‘Hardware and Sound’ and then ‘Devices and Printers’.
2. Select the Surface Type Cover and open the properties for this device. Select the ‘Hardware’ tab on the dialog:

4. Click the ‘Change Settings’ button, then from the dialog that is shown select ‘Uninstall Device’. If offered the option to delete the driver software for this device, ensure that the checkbox to do so is selected (not all devices offer this option) and click ‘Uninstall’:

6. Open the Device Manager for the computer, right-click the computer name at the top and select ‘Scan for Hardware Changes’.

   Note that if you’ve installed the latest Surface Pro 3 drivers, none of the firmware items shown are likely to be updated, but attempt to update each item. If you’ve not installed the latest drivers, the firmware list may have more generic titles which will be updated as the appropriate firmware is applied.
8. Repeat the process of updating the driver for each item under the Keyboards section of the Device Manager. Note that even with the most recent driver pack installed, all of these entries on the device I was working on were the generic ‘HID Keyboard Device’. We don’t know which one of the keyboard devices listed is the Type Cover, however when you get to the correct one you’ll that the driver that is installed is listed as ‘Surface Type Cover Filter Device’:
   
9. As soon as this driver is installed, the Type Cover should start working again. In my case no reboot was required.
